What We Believe

Vision and Values

Vision: Loving God, Living Life – Reaching out for Jesus.

Mission: Reaching this community through the practice of the faith and principles of the New Testament Church in a relevant way.

We value: Being a Healthy and Missional Church that has Passionate Spirituality, Functional Systems and Godly Relationships

 Passionate Spirituality

# Uncluttered Christianity

We have many areas of agreement with other Christians, and commit ourselves to living out the faith and principles of the New Testament church. We leave room for freedom and diversity in non-essential matters in order to be a healthy church that is missional by being contemporary and relevant in our community.

# Baptism and Discipleship

We are committed to following Jesus. We call people to make a new beginning with God through baptism and to grow to be like him, to become passionate in their spirituality, learning to follow him in daily life in the power of the Holy Spirit.

# Communion as Sacrament

Our corporate spirituality is centred on the Cross and our direct encounter with the presence of Jesus at the communion table. The sacrificial love of Jesus motivates us to respond in worship, service and mission.

Functional Systems:

# Functional Leadership

Believing that the church is the body of Christ, we value servant leaders being chosen for particular tasks on the basis of God’s call and gifting. Our leaders exist to serve and build up the body, work to keep it healthy and equip God’s people to fulfil our vision and mission.

# Being a Lay Movement

We affirm that ministry belongs to all of God’s people and that this ministry is to be exercised missionally, both within the church and wherever God has placed his people in his world.

Godly Relationships:

# Working for Practical Unity

Believing that the church is one, we seek opportunities to cooperate with other Christian groups to achieve functional unity, while acknowledging our structural diversity.

# Belonging Together

As members of the body of Christ, we respect and celebrate both our shared values and our diversity. We come together to worship and to support and build each other up, so we may grow in our capacity to serve and minister as part of both the local and the wider church.

We value our involvement with Churches of Christ in NSW, with which we are affiliated.  (www.ccnswact.org.au)

Our Culture

We desire to be a community that Loves Jesus and loves people.

Prayer

We believe that prayer is powerful. It undergirds everything and is imperative in the Church community.

Real Life

We believe in looking beneath the surface of everyday living – of doing ‘real life’ with people. This includes an openness and commitment to personal and spiritual growth.

Relational

We are a hospitable community that values all people. We desire for people to feel welcomed in our space. We care deeply for the people we interact with and desire to know you as you are.

Safety

We want to provide a safe environment for people to come to and interact in. Practically, this means providing safe spaces for people to be vulnerable, training people in Church Safety Processes (and Safe Spaces training), and prioritizing peace to undergird the community.

Teaching/Preaching

It is our passion to share Jesus with anyone and everyone. We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Character/Integrity

We value integrity and we desire to develop the character of a person. Living authentically is a high priority.

Kingdom Focus

We desire to be a raising and releasing community. A place where people can identify, practice, and pursue whatever it is that God has for them in life. The life of a believer is to bring about God’s glory and God’s Kingdom – wherever and whatever that involves.

What We Believe

We believe that the Bible clearly teaches that:

  1. There is only one God who created the world.
  2. Jesus is the Son of God who came to die for everyone’s sin and to offer a right relationship with our creator. It is only through the death and resurrection of Jesus that we can be made right with God.
  3. God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit operate within the Trinity that is the revelation of God to humanity. One God three persons.
  4. Anyone can receive Jesus in their lives.
  5. The Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God.
